Cynthia Johnson-Bianchetta, in her twenty five year career as a photographic artist has worked and exhibited internationally, nationally and locally. As assistant director of the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego, Ca., she helped open the first international museum dedicated to photography, film and video. She is also the former director of the Weston Gallery, Carmel, Ca. Through the University of New Mexico, she organized the British photographic workshop TOUR OF LIGHT. She has also worked as the photographic assistant to master photographer Paul Caponigro, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Currently she is on the Board of Trustees of the Center for Photographic Arts in Carmel. In recent years she has been a co-founder of the Creative Arts Center at the Esalen Institute, in Big Sur, California and the art and photography editor of the Esalen Catalog. Cynthia has been leading photographic workshops for the Esalen Institute, SIGHT/INSIGHT; and also for the Taos Institute of Arts in Northern New Mexico, PHOTOGRAPHING THE LANDSCAPES OF GEORGIA O'KEEFFE; DREAMSCAPES POLAROID TRANSFERS and CHACO CANYON PHOTO EXPEDITIONS. Currently she leads WOMEN'S CREATIVITY RETREATS with Kathleen Carr author of POLAROID MANIPULATIONS, where Cynthia is featured in the Gallery section. Her exhibitions have included first place in Kodak Regional Exhibit in San Diego, Ca.; honorabie mention in Kodak International Exhibit, Equitable Gallery New York.; first place Center for Photographic Arts Exhibit, Gallery Graphics, San Diego, Ca.; A WINTERS NIGHT'S DREAM, The Photography Gallery, La Jolla, Ca.; COLORS ON THE SACRED EDGE, Big Sur, Ca.; IS IT PHOTOGRAPHY, Calumet Gallery, San Francisco, Ca.; and several at the Center for Photographic Art, Carmel, Ca. in group exhibitions. Cynthia has created a number of photographic portfolios including MUD SPACE AND SPIRIT, EARTH ALTARS, ANCIENT DREAM SHARD SERIES, & VISITATIONS. She is at present working in her studio in Blg Sur on a new body of work entitled PIECES OF A DREAM, and the MEDITATION SERIES. Her other creative loves are dance and healing which she includes in her work as a minister for the Center for Spiritual Healing and her work as an expressive arts facilitator and teacher of Authentic Movement / Continuum Movement, and the Roth 5 Rhythms Ecstatic Dance.
